Earthaus Plaster on Blueboard and Veneer Plaster SystemsUpdated 2 years ago
Blueboard and veneer plaster systems are common in New England and some other parts of the Eastern US. These systems use fiberglass mesh tape and gypsum base coats, along with a specially designed wallboard made to bond to the gypsum plaster.
Earthaus plasters are lime-based and don't set in the same way that gypsum plasters do.
It is possible to apply Earthaus finish plasters over blueboard with a standard gypsum basecoat. The dried basecoat should be primed with Primer Grit and the standard Earthaus plaster system installed.
Earthaus Plasters can not take the place of gypsum basecoats in a veneer plaster system.
Blueboard either needs a gypsum base coat, or it needs to be finished to a level 4 drywall finish and primed with primer grit before applying Earthaus Plasters.
