I'm finding the Marble straining process to be challenging. Do you have any tips?Updated a year ago

Straining the Marble Plaster can be a difficult and messy process.  Here are some tips to make it easier.

1.  Strain the Marble into a larger tub, not a 5-gallon bucket.   Straining over a tub allows you to shake and agitate the paint strainer and still contain all of the plaster in the tub.

2. Have a helper.  straining is much easier with two people.  One person holds the strainer over the tub while the other squeezes the plaster through the strainer with gloved hands.

3. Mix the Marble before each pour.  The Marble Plaster will become thinner with agitation.  A quick mix with the drill right before straining will loosen it up and allow it to pass through the strainer much more easily.

4. Mix it wet and let it thicken overnight.  You can mix the Marble Plaster a bit thinner so that it will pass more easily through the strainer.  Leave it overnight to thicken to a workable consistency.
